I don’t believe he fooled around on me
Tells me that he loves me
Shows me that he needs me, needs me
And he’s with me all the time
You say you saw him down at Crystal Lake (yes, we did)
Are you sure that it was him? (It was him)
He told me he’d be working late
And he never learned to swim
They were laughing (huh?)
They were splashing (what?)
They were working on their tans
They were talking (no way!)
It was shocking
They were even holding hands (oh yeah)
I should have seen this from a mile away
I could read it in his eyes
I didn’t think that it would end this way
But I shouldn’t be surprised
Just last weekend
Saw him speaking
To a girl with big brown eyes
They were flirting
And now I’m certain
I’ve getting wrapped up in his lies, oh, yeah
I should have seen this from a mile away
I could read it in his eyes
Didn’t think that it would end this way
But I shouldn’t be surprised
I shouldn’t be surprised
No, I shouldn’t be surprised
This album is utterly astounding - funny, moving, upbeat and more infectious than lice. I cannot stop playing this over and over and over - it's like sunshine with spikes. All the tracks are amazing, but the one that has me jumping about the most, is Unicorn in Uniform. Music to crash your car to :) Lalo
The name of this album perfectly encapsulates everything I love about Elizabeth's musical output from the Darlings to Allo Darlin' to these precious songs: an unyielding optimism that is never naive, and by being so, becomes wildly contagious. Some music tells you that "everything will be ok", but her music actually makes you believe it, even when the lyrics hint at doubt. Michael Feck
Sweetly melancholy bedroom pop is rarely as actually vulnerable and personal as it is in this Australian artist's hands. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 21, 2018
