Tell me again why it has to end
‘Cause I don’t want to believe
Tell me the truth ‘fore it makes the news
That I won’t ever read
Say, say, say, say
Say, say it ain’t so
Say, say, say, say
Say, say it ain’t so
How much time will remain
Before it’s all down the drain?
How many days in a mindless haze
Will I have to complain?
The sun is on the horizon
Oh, yes, we used to be a perfect team
But now we say goodbye
Say, say, say, say
Say, say it ain’t so
Say, say, say, say
Say, say it ain’t so
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh (oh oh oh)
Oh oh oh (oh oh oh)
Oh oh oh (oh oh oh)
Oh oh (oh oh oh)
I’ve faced disaster before
My heart has been trampled on and ignored
Your lies don’t mean a thing
How can this huge planet stop each time you speak?
Stop pretending my world’s ending
What did I ever see
In your webs of deceit?
If you wanna break up, break up with me
Do it honestly
The sun is on the horizon
And now I think of all the fireballs
Behind its warming rays
Say, say, say, say
Say, say it ain’t so
Say, say, say, say
Say, say it ain’t so
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh (oh oh oh)
Oh oh oh (oh oh oh)
Oh oh oh (oh oh oh)
Oh oh (oh oh oh)
This album is utterly astounding - funny, moving, upbeat and more infectious than lice. I cannot stop playing this over and over and over - it's like sunshine with spikes. All the tracks are amazing, but the one that has me jumping about the most, is Unicorn in Uniform. Music to crash your car to :) Lalo
The name of this album perfectly encapsulates everything I love about Elizabeth's musical output from the Darlings to Allo Darlin' to these precious songs: an unyielding optimism that is never naive, and by being so, becomes wildly contagious. Some music tells you that "everything will be ok", but her music actually makes you believe it, even when the lyrics hint at doubt. Michael Feck
Sweetly melancholy bedroom pop is rarely as actually vulnerable and personal as it is in this Australian artist's hands. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 21, 2018
